Namatjira is a theatre work by Big hART exploring the life of acclaimed indigenous watercolour artist, Albert Namatjira.

Big hART worked closely with the Namatjira family to realise this production, which toured Australia and played a sellout season in London.

The piece centred around a sculptural, carved wooden platform which shifted shape throughout, its aesthetics inspired by the landscape of the Central Desert. Members of the Namatjira family were present onstage every night, quietly creating a stunning chalk masterpiece of country on the theatre walls.
